Information

A breast lift or mastopexy improves the position and shape of the breasts without decreasing their size.

Breast shape changes in relation to at aging process, gravity, hormonal imbalance, weight loss, pregnancy and breast feeding. This results in what was previously firm, shapely breast to begin to sag or droop (ptosis).

A breast lift procedure increases the volume and firmness of breasts. It restores the contour, shape and nipple reposition as well as decreasing areola size as well as nipple repositioning, such as reducing areola size and raising the position of downward pointing nipples and areolas.

Dr Rajapakse specializes in creating a beautiful, natural looking harmonious breasts using the short scar technique.

Aging causes our skin to sag and loosen, which can result in fine lines and wrinkles. Wrinkles can be caused by excessive facial expression movement(dynamic) gravity and sun damage.

Wrinkle relaxants can also be used as a preventative measure to stop wrinkles from appearing. These treatments work by relaxing the specified muscle area, leaving skin with a smooth and invigorated appearance. Anti wrinkle treatments are temporary so repeated treatments extend the longevity of the results. Prevention is also the best way to preserve your aesthetic look, as constant formation of dynamic wrinkles can eventually lead to the formation of static or permanent wrinkles.

Another significant sign of aging is volume depletion in the face. This especially affects the eye region, temple, mouth and cheeks. Fillers specifically target areas of volume loss to refuvinate the face.

Filers also can be used to soften wrinkles, lines and scars thus enhancing volume depletion due to aging.

They can give youthful vitality by volumising lines and creases and enhance volume in aging lips.

At our clinic we offer a wide range of non surgical treatments to enhance, and revitalize your face. We use the leading industry standard products to create the most natural aesthetic improvement.

Dr Rajapakse is highly skilled at using these treatments so that you can look younger, refreshed and radiant.

Breast lift FAQs

Is it right for me?

You maybe a good candidate for breast lift surgery if you have:

  • breasts that are pendulous, but satisfactory in size
  • breasts that lack substance or firmness
  • nipples and areola that point downwards and especially if they are below the breast crease

However, breast lift surgery does not significantly change the size of your breasts or round out the upper part of your breast i.e. create upper pole fullness. If you want your breasts to look fuller, consider breast lift and breast augmentation surgery. If you want smaller breasts, consider combining breast lift and breast reduction surgery.

Will I need anaesthesia?

Depending on the size and location of the skin lesion Dr Rajapakse performs surgery either under local anaesthesia with or without sedation or under general anaesthesia. Some procedures may be suitable for local anaesthetic and can be performed in the rooms.

If general anaesthesia or sedation is required Dr Rajapakse will engage the services of a qualified anaesthetist who is a fellow of the Royal Australian and NZ College of Anaesthetists (FRANZCA).

Your anaesthetist will ask you about all the medications that you are taking or have taken and any allergies that you may have.

Will there be scarring?

Unfortunately scars are an inevitable part of any surgery and depending on how each person heals, there can be no guarantee for a perfect outcome.

Dr Rajapakse is highly skilled to minimize scarring and to keep your scars as inconspicuous as possible by placing the incision in natural crease lines.

Scars do fade and if scarring is a concern for you after surgery, Dr Rajapakse will provide you with specially tailored treatment plan to expedite the healing of your scars.

Where is the surgery taking place?

All surgeries are performed either as a day case or overnight stay at a reputable internationally accredited facility.

What is the recovery period?

Patients usually stay in hospital for 1 or 2 nights, until the drains are removed.

Discoloration and swelling are to be expected for the first few weeks after surgery.

Post operative pain is usually limited and is well controlled with pain relief tablets. Your wounds will be covered with waterproof dressings so that you may shower as soon as you feel comfortable. You will be asked to wear a soft surgical bra for support and comfort during the first two weeks to allow healing of your breast into their new shape. Gentle stretching can prove beneficial and exercise such as walking can commence within seven days. Most people can return to work within 10 to 14 days unless their occupation involves strenuous movement, when 3 to 4 weeks is recommended. All heavy lifting should be avoided for the first 6 weeks.

What are the costs?

You have the right to be informed about the costs associated with you surgery.
